This photo shows the area where the Ọ̀ṣun Festival procession culminates. To the right is the shrine dedicated to the Ọ̀ṣun goddess and is where the Atáọ́ja of Òṣogbo, the king of the town, propitiates the deities. Behind is a seating area where he greets people who come to pay their respect to him after the rituals.
The Ọ̀ṣun Òṣogbo Festival, held annually in August, climaxes with a massive procession to the Ọ̀ṣun Grove, where rituals are conducted with the sacred objects carried by the arugbá (votary maid).
