Before ‘Made in Hong Kong’, items locally developed and produced, such as the ‘Halina’ camera in the 1950s, were marketed as ‘Empire Made’. The ‘Diana’ 120 camera was another popular product, which was exported mainly to the U.S. and Europe in the 1960s.

The ‘Halina’ camera was the product of W. Haking Enterprises in 1956. The company was considered a pioneer in precision engineering and used Japanese machinery. The company undertook independent research and development to produce the first single lens and twin lens reflex cameras, made in Hong Kong.
