As bacteria evolve resistance to antibiotics, humanity is losing medical practices we have taken for granted for nearly a century. Antibiotics allow procedures such as chemotherapy, organ transplants, surgery for pacemakers and protective care for premature babies. Losing antibiotics could mean losing modern medicine.
