“He Xiangu” (patron of the housewives)

The only female figure amongst the eight immortals in the Taoist tradition. She is symbolised by a lotus flower or a peach, representing longevity. According to legend, He Xiangu never married and her stepmother was at a loss as to what to do with her. One day, when she was cooking rice, she was attacked by a demon and saved by the immortal Lu Ding-bin.
