“I Shall Never Return”

The production of “I Shall Never Return” was the most personal one in Tadeusz Kantor’s work. At a press conference in Rome, the artist said: “In the days of paradoxical consumption, mass communication, murders, there remains this little thing – an individual life.” The performance was regarded by critics as an “extreme manifestation of individual theatre”.
