In the production of “Today Is My Birthday”, the artist reconstructed his Poor Little Room of Imagination on stage. “I decided to live on stage – to have a bed, a table, chairs and, of course, paintings there. Mine. I often imagined my apartment in the theatre, inside, almost on stage – not at a hotel. So my Poor Little Room of Imagination – as I call it – on stage. I have to furnish it. It shouldn’t look like a decoration. I have to assemble items from my room on stage. (…) So: my bed, table, chair, door (important), stove with a pipe, and ‘canvases’, on the easel. ROOM. Mine. Own. Private. The only place in the whole world governed by ruthless rules of mass nature, of the universality of community. (…) where the human individual, the human being, hounded by community, can take shelter (…).” In the left frame of the picture on stage there was the Frame of a Self-Portrait of the Owner of the Poor Little Room of Imagination.
