釈迦如来により油ランプの灯心が妙吉祥童子となる。
天を行き、地を裂き、風に乗り、水中を行き、火の中にて自在なる力と三界を見通す第三の目、天眼を授かり人間界へ転生し自らを「華光天王」と名乗るが、次々と騒動を起こす。
その後、華光の力を持つ顕徳は最後に転生した時の母を救いに、金磚と金槍を持ち生き地獄へと旅立つのである。
