As a typical Han-style jin-silk with animal and continuous cloud pattern, this piece of warp-faced compound tabby applied reddish purple warp threads as foundation and warp yarns in blue, yellow, green and white to create pattern, with the green and white yarns interlacing with each other.
Ear-shaped cloud motifs serve as framework, decorated with running immortal animals, recognizable ones among which are dragons, tigers, birds, creating an imagined scene of Heaven. Among the animal and cloud motifs scatter eight woven characters, namely, “延年益寿长葆子孙” , (Yan Nian Yi Shou Chang Bao Zi Sun, means longevity and blessing for the offspring), testifying to people’s wish for immoral life and endless blessing for their descendants.
