This last scene shows the joyous atmosphere during such an offering ceremony in Canton. Apart from the figures in mandarin’s dress who are watching the theatrical performance, women and children also join the celebration from the balcony above. The performance pays tribute to the god of fire for his blessings on the workmen in the previous year. The fashion for foreign products in Canton is shown by the Western mirror decorating the main hall.
