The Huilai site is located in Xitun District of Taichung City and has been excavated numerous times by our archaeological team. This grayish-black pottery was found in the Fantzuyuan cultural layer and dated from about 1,200 to 1,400 years before present. Its shape imitates a half gourd cut in half lengthwise. It was most likely used to scoop water. This type of pottery is unique at the Huilai site.
