Unearthed from the Song-dynasty tomb in Baoying county, Jiangsu province in 1995, this water pot is in a distinctively beautiful shape of an eight-rib melon, with a curly vine on the top, a bottom that concaves innerwards and a hole on the shoulders used to fill it with water. This piece should have been made by piecing together sections pre-made separately given the seams on the belly. Its smooth white body is covered with a thin coating of lustrous greenish-white glaze.
