Tottori Castle was a mountain castle on Mt. Kyūshō that thrived from the middle of the sixteenth century to Meiji Restoration. It was designated a national historical site, thanks to the efforts of Yoshida Shōya as an activist of the Mingei movement, to have the castle ruins recognized as a cultural property.
