Thanks to the folk toy boom during the pre-WWII-to-post-WWII period, the once-interrupted production of traditional toys was revived, leading to the making of new, creative toys. In the case of clay dolls made in the central region of the prefecture, many small, creative toys have been made based on not only traditional figures like the tenjin deity, but also local mythology and folklore.
