Beijing, China

This is a horse face cover designed to prevent sand blown by winds. It applied various abstract geometric patterns such as lotus flowers, honeysuckles, animals such as frogs, cruciform, Buddha statues, etc. These patterns are in a golden color on a tan ground. With figures visible due to color variation of warp yarns, motifs on this piece remain the same vertically while alternate horizontally. The overall image is typical of textiles from west China as well as Central Asia and West Asia.
