This is a tool joining two crossed blades for the purpose of cutting cloth, paper, or hair, also called a cutting knife (剪刀) or pharmacy scissors (鋏刀). Sewing scissors were used for cutting fabrics or threads. It utilizes leverage through two blades symmetrically juxtaposed. Scissors are generally made using cast iron, occasionally brass or nickel. The user puts their thumb into one handle and places the remaining fingers in the other handle. The handles are expanded into an oval shape. The body of some scissors are made of steel, while the handles are made of brass, thereby serving both functional and decorative purposes.
