Also called “Daebuljeong suneungeomgyeong” or “Neungeomgyeong” for short, this Sutra emphasizes putting Buddhist faith into practice instead of simply understanding Buddha’s teachings. This is the bound book of volumes 1 to 4 from Neungeomgyeong, which was extracted and annotated by Gyehwan, a Buddhist monk of the Song Dynasty of China, and was printed from woodblocks. With an offering made by the Governor of Hongsan, this book was published at Muryangsa Temple in Hongsan, Chungcheongnam-do based on Bak Gyeong's calligraphic work in the 19th year of the reign of King Seongjong (1488) of the Joseon Dynasty. The book is regarded as a very important treasure since it was published at a Buddhist temple in the late 15th century based on a noted calligrapher's writing, and it has a record on its publication at the end of the book. It is also considered to be a valuable material in studying the Korean language of that time since it has annotations written in Hangeul and Idu, an ancient system of transcribing the Korean language with Chinese characters.
