Net Bag

Mangtaegi, which is also called guroek or kkalmangtae in some regions, is a tool for carrying green-feed, potatoes or other objects. Woven using twisted straws or strings, a net bag is a rectangular bag with a narrow width and deep depth. A strap attached to both ends of the bag allows it to be carried on the shoulder. In some mountainous areas of Gangwon Province, a string bag with straws (jurumak) is used, which has a strap in the mouth of the bag to adjust its size, in a similar mechanism to a drawstring bag. The mouth strap and the shoulder strings attached to the both ends of the bag are connected in one piece. The straps are closely woven using finely twisted straws, and the loop is wrapped with kudzu root, tall flat sedge, or wild-walnut bark to protect the handle.
