Featuring a pair of birds in a garden setting, this fan case illustrates the highly naturalistic style associated with Shandong, one of China's main regional schools of embroidery. The creation of these tiny motifs, with the birds measuring approximately one inch in length, required the embroiderer to utilize the thinnest possible untwisted threads.
