Sabangchim is a cubical pillow, on which the user could rest on one elbow and lean sideways. It is part of the bedroom set including a mattress, a long armrest, and a cushion. Square boards of around 30 cm in length were joined to make a cube, which was covered with scarlet and navy silk to make a pillowcase. And cotton batting was padded between the boards and the silk to make it soft and comfortable. It supported the elbow of a person leaning sideways, as opposed to the head. Sabangchim is cubical while jangchim is cuboid. At the center of each side is a mat woven out of sedge, around which a band of blue Chinese silk was stitched. At the center of each sedge mat, a pattern of the Seven Treasures was stitched, while the four corners were decorated with silk patterns.
