This is a coronet used as a base support of a woman's braided ceremonial hairstyle. It features a black silk cap, stuffed with cotton and tightly fastened with string at the waist, and two strings attached at the center. A wearer places an ornamental hairpin in the center of her hair where she places this under cap, fastening it at the back of the braided bun by tying with the two strings.
