Duck-shaped Pottery

Duck-shaped potteries are usually found from the tombs in the Yeongnam area - Southeast area of the Korean Peninsula. According to the historic record ‘Chronicles of the Three Kingdoms’, it is usually told that ancient people buried feathers with the deceased, believing the bird leads the deceased to the heavenly paradise. Therefore, it is reasonable to regard that this pottery carried the soul of the deceased to heaven on one hand, and on the other hand, the pottery reflects the belief of after life. The hole for the liquor is laid in the middle of the back and the holistic description of the bird is delicate and intuitive. It seemed to belong to the 6th century artefact.
