Lee Dong-chun’s Red Certificate of Passing the Military Service Exam

This document is a certificate of Lee Dong-chun who passed the military service examinations in the 343rd place in 1869. This red certificate was issued to successful applicants of 'higher examination'. The examination system of that time was compartmentalized in lower and higher examinations, which were preliminary and primary examinations, respectively. Successful candidate of the former was given a white certificate while the latter, a red certificate.
