This is a farming tool used to plant ginseng seeds. Tips for digging holes to plant seeds are attached under the plate, which has a handle. Depending on the region, insam pajonggi was also called jongjapan (starting sheet), pajongpan (seed board), or insamssi pajonggi (board for ginseng seeds). When the seed board is slightly pressed against evenly plowed ridges, its tips create holes on the ridges to mark the location of planted seeds.
