The second thematic exhibition of ACT Center 《Heterotopia—Common spaces unseen》(2016.11.24-27) has the theme of unfamiliar spaces which exist in reality, but which is different from reality.

In particular, spaces of media such as scree and virtual reality (VR) exist but they are not common. Heterotopia means the spaces where people and objects overlap or locate in different way. In addition, like function of contemporary art, it refers to another name of enjoyment and creation which resist or question out of boredom of a familiar world (Homotopia) which is maintained with unified order and system. ACT Festival aims to expand senses through media of advanced technologies in which unknown information is vividly experienced in a mixed platform of reality and imagination and moved. Dynamic images of large screens are not Utopia that is not caught, but they communicate with audience as a space of splendid creation and convergence which emerge now/here in reality like a magic.

ACT Festival consists of showcase, performance, forum, artist, talk, workshop, and ACC Creation exhibition. As for showcase programs, 9 teams of ACT Center 2016 participated in invitation show case, and performance displayed art and technology expanded through 10 teams of wearable technology performance, and audiovisual performance. Forum was held on two days, November 25, 26, 2016 and shared lots of discussions on Heterotopia. In artist talk, Gary Holl, master of media artist was invited for discussions on his artwork world and correlation between popular music and media art. Besides, artist talk programs by ACT Center Residency participants were held. In workshop, a total of 4 programs were proceeded to ensure that audience could directly experience program techniques such as sound art and creating coding. ACC Creation’s exhibitions were composed of a total of 5 sections. In particular, through archive exhibition celebrating the 1st anniversary of ACC opening, major programs of ACC which exchanges and communicates without boundary were introduced. In addition, through exhibitions sharing results of ACT Center and Kinetic Media Lab, integrating process of research, creation and production, and exhibition of ACT Center within ACC were displayed.
