LETTER CASE

Letter cases were used to keep letters and other personal papers safe. This example is probably homemade and is decorated with a diaper pattern enclosing a geometric form realized in a Rococo stitch. A label stitched to the case possibly reveals the owner’s name, a Mrs. Edward Abairt.
