Crown Prince’s Court Ceremony Commemorative Medal

This medal was made to celebrate the Royal festive court ceremony for Crown Prince Yi Cheok (later Emperor Sunjong) in 1907. The front side is engraved with a pair of pigeons facing each other, and the back has an inscription “Korean Empire, His Majesty the Crown Prince, Festive Court Ceremony, Commemorative Medal, January 24, 11th year of Gwangmu.”Three years after the death of Consort of the Crown Prince Sunmyeongin 1904, Crown Prince married Yun, who later became Empress Sunjeong (1894-1966), in 1907.
