Eliette von Karajan is a French former fashion model who was "discovered" by Christian Dior when she was 18. She came to wider prominence as the wife of the conductor Herbert von Karajan whom she married in October 1958. As a widow she promoted her late husband's artistic legacy and has been a patron of the arts more broadly. She established several endowed artistic foundations and institutes. She was president of the Karajan Foundation Salzburg Easter Festival until 2020 and afterwards honorary president.
