Johannes Hendricus van der Palm was a Dutch linguist, professor of oriental languages and Hebrew antiquities and sacred poetry and rhetoric at Leiden University, educationist, theologian, Dutch Reformed Church minister, Bible translator, politician and orator. He made major contributions in all these areas.
