Hyères, Provençal Occitan: Ieras in classical norm, or Iero in Mistralian norm is a commune in the Var department in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region in southeastern France.
The old town lies 4 km from the sea clustered around the Castle of Saint Bernard, which is set on a hill. Between the old town and the sea lies the pine-covered hill of Costebelle, which overlooks the peninsula of Giens. Hyères is the oldest resort on the French Riviera.
