Max Joseph Roemer was a German botanist who worked in Weimar.
He served as a Landrichter in the Bavarian town of Aub, afterwards working as a private scientist in Würzburg.
He is the taxonomic authority of the genera Heteromeles, Pyracantha and Erythrocarpus as well as of numerous plant species.
