Natural rubber

Natural rubber is a hydrocarbon polymer derived from the latex (a viscous, milky sap) of one or more trees from the Euphorbiaceae family. The latex is obtained from the tree (through tapping a cut in the bark), precipitated with acid and then washed and dried. The resulting material is very elastic and has been used for a variety of utilitarian purposes, including adhesives.
