The exhibition is conceived as the completion and outcome of the exposition program dedicated to the books of surrealist artists.

After a series of monographic exhibitions at the General Headquarters (spring 2019 - spring 2020), she will present a wide panorama of artists who were part of the circle of surrealists or directly related to him. The exhibition will include several dozen books from the collection of the famous St. Petersburg scientist and collector Mark Bashmakov. The central place will be occupied by the works of Jean (Hans) Arp, Hans Bellmer, Salvador Dali, Max Ernst, Bifredo Lama, Andre Masson, Roberto Matta, Joan Miro, Pablo Picasso. Books will also be shown, illustrated by Yves Tanguy, Man Ray, Stanley Hayter, Leonor Fini, Oscar Dominguez, Rene Magritte. The inclusion of the works of a number of masters, whose names are not traditionally associated with surrealism, will raise the question of the boundaries and influence of this movement, both in the field of an illustrated book and in fine art in general.
