An exhibition exploring the relationship between abstract art and the natural world

This exhibition brings together the work of two ground-breaking modern artists: Swedish painter Hilma af Klint and Dutch painter Piet Mondrian.

They developed their own languages of abstraction, having started out as landscape painters, challenging the typical art forms of their time. This show will explore how life forms in nature continued to fuel their artistic explorations. The exhibition treats them both as artists who created work in response to the world around them at the turn of the 20th century.

Although they never met, they shared the same desire to understand the forces behind life on earth.

Visitors will be able to discover these ideas though the signs, shapes and colours in both artists’ beautiful and complex paintings.
