MAI Presents
Eight Brazilian performance artists will premiere new works, five performing daily from 1pm-9pm during the two-month exhibition period. The other three artists will present site-specific interventions. Prior to the exhibition, the artists participated in a "Cleaning the House," workshop. Over the course of five days, they prepared for the long durational performances using exercises that develop each performer’s resistance, concentration, self-control, and willpower.

Historical works by Abramovic were re-performed by the Brazilian artist Andrea Boller.

Works reperformed:
Freeing the Voice, 1975

Freeing the Memory, 1975

Freeing the Body, 1975

Called In Between, this space functioned as a hub for artists, researchers, and the general public to share ideas and expand their knowledge about performance and immaterial art. There was also special programming that included presentations from Lynsey Peisinger and performances by Grupo Empreza.
