Theo Triantafyllidis works with video games, live simulations, performances, and physical installations to build playful worlds exploring complex phenomena. 'Feral Metaverse (Spider)' is a climbable sculpture and live multiplayer game installed at Frieze London art fair from 14-18th October 2026.
As part of the award, the artist and his team of sculptors, fabricators, textile designers, game developers, and civil engineers worked with Gemini as a tool and collaborator in the generation of the sketches, character designs, backdrops, and 3D renders that shaped the look and feel of the installation.
The experience encourages audiences to climb onto a leg of the spider and play a console game, that requires collaboration, exchange of advice, and learning together. By merging the tactile, climbable spider sculpture with a multiplayer game, the installation invites audiences to create connections and help one another to navigate physical and digital worlds.
