Route 66 Rewind transports you along the legendary Mother Road, bringing its rich history to life as you explore 33 iconic (and wonderfully unexpected) roadside attractions across all eight states, from Chicago to Los Angeles.

This experiment lets you compare the past and present at each location: you can seamlessly toggle between historically-inspired video footage, generated by Veo to capture the feeling of traveling back in time, and contemporary street views from Google Street View.

📻 AI Radio Commentary: Switch between stations on the radio for deeper insights on each site. You'll hear informative commentary generated with Gemini and era-inspired music generated with Lyria

For 11 of the 33 featured locations, Google Arts & Culture worked with the National Trust for Historic Preservation to source archival imagery to inform the “rewind” video generation.
