WMT was established in 1956 as the Pantomime Studio
...at the State Drama Theatres in Wrocław. The founder and artistic director was Henryk Tomaszewski. Tomaszewski's creative individuality and strongly defined directorial vision attracted a host of young and talented artists to the theatre.
The first ensemble included, among others:
Elżbieta Jaroszewicz, Ałła Laskowska, Irena Szymkiewicz, Stanisław Brzozowski, Jerzy Fornal, Zdzisław Kapuściński, Anatol Krupa, Janusz Pieczuro.

Every premiere was a realization of his unique visions.
The inaugural program premiered on November 4, 1956, at the Wrocław Polish Theatre. Program II brought the theatre its first awards at the 6th World Festival of Youth and Students in Moscow in 1957.

On January 1, 1958, the Studio was transformed into the Municipal Pantomime Theater, and a year later the facility was nationalized under the name Wrocław Pantomime Theater.

The tradition of the Pantomime Studio
...has returned as a form of meetings with audiences through monthly weekend workshops, where issues related to body work in movement theater, pantomime and dance techniques, character building, dramaturgy, stage movement, and even directing are addressed.
