Your Journey
An interesting pattern of light and shade is formed by the shadows of the erecting tower inside the steel sphere which will be used for testing an atomic power plant for U.S. Navy submarines. This great sphere, 225 feet in diameter, is being built by the Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory. The laboratory is operated by the General Electric Company for the Atomic Energy Commission. One of the air-locks which will be used for the entrance to the sphere is seen to the right. When completed, the sphere will be air-tight.
