Founded in 1696, the Akademie der Künste in Berlin is one of Europe’s oldest cultural institutions. Representing exhibition and event locations that foster encounters between artists and art lovers, the Akademie also leads important public debates about art and cultural affairs. Its archives are among the most significant interdisciplinary archives for 20th century art. The Studio für Elektroakustische Musik (Studio for Electroacoustic Music) is a creative resource and infrastructure for the Akademie’s artistic programmes. Its aesthetic direction is oriented towards current music, but also to developments in the visual and performing arts, film and media arts, and literature.
