Viafarini is a creative incubator and a hub for the promotion of visual arts located in Milan at Fabbrica del Vapore, collaborating with other renowned organizations in Italy and abroad. Viafarini is the first non profit Archive promoting artistic research in Italy since 1991.
Its know-how about documentation, art consultancy, production, residency, education, communication and exhibition services are put at disposal for interdisciplinary collaboration projects.
Nowadays Viafarini aims both at the professional training of emerging artists within the art system, as well as creating networks of collaboration between artistic research, private commission and the social environment. Thanks to this hybrid, participative and multidisciplinary approach Viafarini innovates its cultural offer in order to understand the implications of the great change under way: from an artistic as well as social, political and anthropological point of view.
Italian Area - www.italianarea.it - is a selection from Viafarini Archive documenting the Italian artistic scene from the late eighties to the present. Italian Area showcases the artists promoted by the most important Italian and foreign organizations, and also gives visibility to the younger generation of artists representing today’s Italian art scene. Each artist is represented by a work of his choice, directly linked to his/her website.
