Australian National Maritime Museum

Sydney, Australia

The Australian National Maritime Museum was opened in 1991 with a mission to collect, preserve and bring to life Australia’s maritime heritage and culture. The National Maritime Collection features over 140,000 objects, capturing themes such as defence, exploration, migration and coastal culture. It also includes one of the largest and most diverse in-water fleets of any museum in the world–tall ships, navy vessels, a submarine and beautifully restored historic boats. Located on Sydney’s Darling Harbour, the museum offers visitors a range of public events and exhibitions covering all aspects of Australia’s connection to the sea, as well as the opportunity to board and explore the historic vessels.
