The Australian Tennis Museum began in 1983 when several tennis enthusiasts approached tennis NSW with a proposal to collect and preserve Australian tennis memorabilia. Originally based at White City, Rushcutters Bay, the Museum moved to Sydney Olympic Park in 2005. The collection includes racquets, trophies, a Nationally Significant clothing collection, photographs and other memorabilia. There is also an extensive tennis library, probably the most extensive in Australia, that is frequently used for research and exhibition support. The library includes books, programmes, magazines and other paraphernalia. The Museum's mission is to preserve the Australian history of the game and inspire the next generation of players and spectators to love tennis - 'The Game For Life'.
