The Puppet Castle or Giordano Ferrari Museum developed from the Giordano Ferrari Collection and shows a part of what the Parmesan Puppeteer has patiently collected in over sixty years of activity.
In addition, the museum’s heritage has increased considerably over the years thanks to important donations and currently the Puppet Castle stands as one of the most important italian archives of figurative theatre.
The museum, located on the ground floor of the former monastery of St. Paul, is developed along two itineraries: in the display cases at the centre we can find the marionettes that is to say full-body figures and tv puppets.
Whereas the cabinets along the wall are mainly focused on puppets.
Each itinerary is supplemented by explanations in four languages and enriched with posters, scripts and stage objects with the purpose to recreate the historical context related to the exhibits. This allows the visitor to better understand its aesthetics and intrinsic value.
