A museum dedicated to Frédéric Chopin and George Sand's residency at the Valldemossa Charterhouse (Cartuja de Valldemossa)—in the same rooms they rented in 1838. The collection's pièce de résistance is Chopin's piano, upon which he composed his music in these very chambers. The same Majorcan (Mallorcan) family that bought it for Chopin in 1839 acquired the room in 1932 to establish this space as a homage to the great composer.
It is a historic place that is completely preserved and can be visited all year around. The museum has a collection revealing the details of Chopin's trip to Majorca (Mallorca). The museum's archives harbor practically everything written about this brief and intense period in Chopin's and Sand's lives. Occasionally, concerts and events related to both artists will be performed.
