The pristine Art Deco building, built in 1935 and designed by top Dutch architect H.P. Berlage, is especially made to surprise and delight the wandering visitor. The galleries flooded with natural light are the perfect place to view top works by iconic 20th-century masters like Piet Mondrian, Pablo Picasso, Wassily Kandinsky, Claude Monet, Constant, Francis Bacon and Louise Bourgeois. Elsewhere in the building there are colourful Sol LeWitt murals and pieces by contemporary artists such as Panamarenko, Marlene Dumas, Frank Stella and Daniel Richter.

Kunstmuseum, the Mondrian museum
The spectacular Mondrian & De Stijl wing contains the very heart of the collection: the world’s greatest collection of works by Piet Mondrian.The wing is used to show how Mondrian, transformed from a talented landscape painter into one of the greatest 20th-century masters and a pioneer of modern art.
From Arts & Crafts to Haute Couture
And that’s not all. To enjoy the domestic splendour of past centuries, visit the galleries full of rare blue Delft pottery, Hague silver and glittering glass dating from classical antiquity right through to the present day. Or immerse yourself in the creative world of high fashion at annual exhibitions spotlighting the Kunstmuseum’s glamorous couture collection.
