Mission Statement
The Greensboro Historical Museum shares the city’s compelling history in countless ways. Exhibitions fire imaginations, technology provides non-stop outreach, programs educate and entertain, and collections link generations. Our commitment to community service, dialogue, and relevance never wavers.

The Greensboro Historical Museum, Inc. is nationally accredited and provides exhibits and programs that convey local and Piedmont North Carolina history and connect them to the larger national story .
Renown collections include the Dolley Madison collection, the Robert McKinney Historical and Commemorative Glass collection and the Dr. John Murphy Civil War Confederate Weapons Collection. Accessing our archival holdings by website provides an overview of the Martin Miller Photographic Collection and other materials that reflect both celebratory and controversial issues.
The museum is housed in a national register Richardsonian Romanesque building with turn of the century additions. The adjoining Richardson Park has four historic structures including a late 18th c. home and blacksmith shop.
