The Indian Academy of Sciences, founded as a Society by Professor C. V. Raman on 27 April 1934, aims to promote the advancement of science in both pure and applied branches through the support of original research and the dissemination of scientific knowledge to the community. The Academy from its very beginnings has taken great interest and initiative in publishing science research and today publishes 10 science journals in different disciplines, uses an online submission and review management system that’s trackable, papers are peer reviewed and published content is made available online and open access. The Academy also constituted a committee on "Women in Science" to look into the issues of women scientists and to suggest measures for obtaining suitable solutions.
