From 1911 until his death in 1918, Klimt created some of his most important works in his studio in Feldmühlgasse. At that time still a ground-level garden house, it was converted into a neo-baroque villa in 1923 by the owner at the time. This means that Gustav Klimt never saw the villa-like building as it presents itself to us now. However, the colloquial name "Klimt Villa" established itself in the district and among interested lovers of his art.
