The City of Niigata is a “City of Manga & Anime” which has long fostered manga & anime culture and has produced many famous manga artists and anime creators.

At “Niigata Manga Animation Museum” and “The Niigata City Manga House”, various exhibitions and manga courses for beginners are held free of charge.

Niigata City holds events, such as the “Niigata Manga Competition” and the “Niigata Anime & Manga Festival” that envelops the city in manga & animation, as well as runs a sightseeing loop bus wrapped in anime characters. Through these, Niigata enhances its urban charms and aims to enliven and invigorate the community as the “City of Manga & Anime, Niigata”.
