The National Marine Biodiversity Institute of Korea is a public agency for preserving and conserving marine biological resources as well as their sustainable utilization.

To achieve a position as a global leader for conservation and sustainable utilization of marine biological resources, we identifiedy two goals :

- Conduct research that maximizes efficient conservation of marine bio-resources.
- Provide the general public with high-quality exhibition and educational programs for nurturing ocean literacy.
